About Aluminum Nitride Ceramics
Aluminum nitride ceramics are one of the advanced ceramic materials that are widely used in the electronics industry because of their excellent thermal conductivity and electrical insulation properties.
Aluminum nitride crystals are covalently bonded compounds with [AIN4] tetrahedra as structural units, with a fibrillated zincite-type structure and a hexagonal crystal system. As a high-temperature resistant material, its single crystal thermal conductivity is almost 5 times that of alumina, and it has good thermal shock resistance, and it can be used in an inert atmosphere at 1350℃.
Aluminum nitride is resistant to attack by molten metals and is stable to acids. Because of its surface exposed to wet air will react to generate a very thin oxide film, using this characteristic, can be used as aluminum, copper, silver, lead and other metals melting crucible and burn casting mold materials. ain ceramics metallization performance is better, can replace the toxic beryllium oxide ceramics in the electronics industry in a wide range of applications.
Chemical formula of aluminum nitride
Aluminum nitride chemical formula for AlN, chemical composition AI 65.81%, N 34.19%. its powder is white or off-white, single crystal colorless and transparent, sublimation decomposition temperature at atmospheric pressure is 2450 ℃.
Thermal conductivity of aluminum nitride ceramics.
Aluminum nitride polycrystalline material thermal conductivity is 70~210 W / (m.k), and single crystal can be as high as 275 W / (m.k) or more, is 5 times that of alumina.
Aluminum Nitride Ceramic Substrates
Aluminum nitride ceramics have high thermal conductivity, low coefficient of expansion, high strength, high temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, high resistivity and low dielectric loss, making them ideal for large-scale integrated circuit heat dissipation substrates and packaging materials.

Precautions for the use of aluminum nitride ceramics
Aluminum nitride ceramics undergo surface oxidation in air at 700°C, and even at room temperature, a surface oxide layer of 5-10 nm is detected. This will help protect the material body, but it will also reduce the thermal conductivity of the material surface. In an inert atmosphere, the oxide layer protects the material body at temperatures up to 1350°C, above which the body undergoes significant oxidation. Aluminum nitride ceramics are stable in hydrogen and carbon dioxide atmospheres at temperatures up to 980°C.
In addition, aluminum nitride ceramics react chemically and dissolve slowly with inorganic acids and liquids such as strong bases and water, all of which it cannot be used by direct immersion in such substances. However, aluminum nitride is resistant to most molten salts, including chlorides and cryolite.
